I was saved by art…

He hurries to record a new music every morning. He processes music with particular care, as according to him he want to contribute it to the most previous treasure in life – his child. Though, as he says he cherries all compositions written by him, as a special emotion, sense and warmth has been laid into it.

He has been playing the guitar since the age of 7, whereas he started to play an electric music from the age of 13. The first compositions was written at the age of 22. He recalls the day with great emotions, when he finished working on the composition and had his friend to listen to it. Though the genre which he plays is not liked by everyone, though he has his own loyal listeners.

“Assessment by my family members and friends is particularly important for me, some of them are absolutely unaware of the essence of my music and calls it “bang bang”, though I still take such evaluation with humor and think that Rock is the strongest and coolest genre of music. I remember being at school agent, when I first listened to “Deep Purple”, which inspired me and helped me to discover myself. I am stills in search of novelties“.

42 year old Grigol Makharadze is a former inmate. He used to be a Civil Servant before being imprisoned, though he finally connected his work to music. The only thing hem was missing during imprisonment was his guitar. He was released from custody in 2007. According to him, he had spent hard time, though he managed to pass the way to rehabilitation with the support of friends, without job and income. He started to work at Ozurgeti State Ensemble. In parallel he formed his own voice recording studio with his own source and friends’ support, where he has been employed for 4 years.

“Together with my friends we founded a studio, where initially we started to work in a hardship. We were located in one small room, being devoid of any inventory, though love to music was so strong that we did not surrender. When people came for voice recording we borrowed a guitar from neighbors, though did not refuse to the order. Though, one cannot always borrow an instrument from mothers. We were lucky that we were able to buy ab electric guitar from “Guria Youth Resource Center”. With the help of the instrument today the songs for various schools and kindergartens are actively recorded, we also record phonograms, private persons also being interested with our service”.

Grigol Makharadze is a beneficiary of the project “Strengthening Former Inmates”. He is actively involved in rehabilitation services, having purchase a guitar with the support of the project, planning to share his knowledge with future generation and further expand his current activity.

A singer and composer is willing to record an Author’s CD, for which he is looking for a sponsor. He is also working on the music for the clip recorded on the topic of Abkhazia, which he will finish soon and will launch in local broadcasting.
