Greenhouse Economy Run by the Inmate’s Family

One year remaining before his release from custody, he is fully aware about his future plans, though as his mother thinks that his son’s activity will be related to family business.

 Inmate’s family has been running a nursery economy for years, growing the saplings of kiwi, feihoia, walnut under greenhouse conditions, being highly demandable and realized in the whole westerner Georgia.

Blind beneficiaries on the needs of the persons with disabilities

42-year old Alex Tsevelidze is blind, though his physical state is resulting from the injury caused during arresting, when he was beaten with the weapon barrel by the special service unit office of the Finance Police, damaging his eye and losing eyesight. In 20166 he was sentenced with the accusation of economic offence.

Internship Program for former inmates

Internship is one of the important components together with employment and self-employment. This program actively supports re-qualification of the beneficiaries in such companies and enterprises, enabling their further employment.

School Action for former inmates’ children

At the Institute of Democracy office, socially unprotected former inmates’ children were granted with the notebooks, pens, pencils, linear, bangs and other inventory necessary for the schools, after which they were served with a delicious tart and taken at the first night performance at Batumi Puppet Theatre.

Excursion organized for former inmates in Imereti

Adventurous route from Okatse Canyon proved to be full with emotions and impressions. Almost 2-hour walking tour of the canyon was launched in historical   forest-park. Through passing an exotic environment of the forest the visitors walked along the hanging path and took memorable photos at the panoramic background.

Summing-up presentation of the project “Petition – People’s Voice in the Self-Governance”

In the frame of the project, for increasing civil engagement on the scale of western Georgia, identifying community problems, preparing the petitions, initiating them in the Municipal Assemblies the meetings were held in more than 130 villages and communities of target municipalities, in which 2848 citizens were involved.

As the result of Joint work of the beneficiary and program personnel the tools needed for wooden engravings were financed for Akaki. According to him, everything started from the scratch from that day and new meaning returned to life. Akaki is currently employed, producing icons, accessories, jewelry items with purchased tools, being one of the main income source for him. 

Inmates’ family living under hard social conditions

Five-member family living in one of the villages of Imereti region  is living under hard social conditions, remaining without any social aid after imprisoning her husband,   being only at the expense of elderly pension from senior family members, though the old person is often ill, complaining that pension can hardly be sufficient for medicines.
