Trainings, internship, mastering a profession are the directions, offered by the Institute of Democracy project to former inmates and probationers with the purpose of developing vocational skills and abilities.
“He approached me a bit confused, in uncertainty, asking to bless him. Of course, I blessed him and we talked for a long time. He wanted to get a job. I asked him what he could do and it turned out that he could make engraving on wood. Since then we have been working together in my workshop, he is my spiritual son“- recalls Father Shio at the meeting with a former inmate, who was able to start a new life despite of heavy years spend in imprisonment.
Multiple member of Sordia family are living in hard social conditions. The family state was deteriorated after imprisoning Anatoly with his sons. Maintaining three members in prison became a heavy burden for the family, during which they had to sell all the equipment and facilities of the Iron Enterprise. After being released from custody, the artisans failed to continue work, the family remained without any income source.
A member of Keda Municipal Assembly will deliver a performance report to the population twice a year. The decision was taken by the Municipal Assembly of current convocation at the last session. This was one of the issues initiated at the Municipality, settlement of which was requested by the population with a petition. The Institute of Democracy assisted the locals in drafting the petition.

Since February the Institute of Democracy together with partner organizations has been working on the project for “Strengthening Former Inmates” in four regions. Various rehabilitation services are applied by former inmates, inmates’ family members and probationers in Ajara, Guria, Samegrelo Upper Svaneti and Imereti region.
As shown by the international Experience the priorities of female and male electorate often differ. In Georgia, Political Parties as a rule spend little time on separate study of priority issues and development of the election program oriented on them. Therefore, the survey developed by R-CSN aims at highlighting and elimination of this problem.
For many years, 74-year-old visually impaired Arsen Nakashidze has been carrying the wood for winter season with hands. Rural automobile road was locked by the neighbors’ years ago, prohibiting the family to apply the road, having put a heavy burden on the elderly since then, having tried to negotiate with a family, though without any efforts.
The first play was held among Ajara and Guria teams. After 40-minute long interesting play, the victory was gained by Ajara team.
