Developing Small Business – Training for Former Inmates

How to develop a business plan, knowledge of which Legislative Basis is required for correct planning of the activity, importance of correct planning of the name and feasibility of obtaining funding with existing Business Plan – these are the issues, which were introduced to the former inmates, inmates’ family members and probationers at the Institute of Democracy Trainings.


The training was attended by the representatives of various professions. Painter-designer, sanitary technician, furniture artisan, stylist. Some of them have already a successful business, part of the listeners are planning to launch their own business in the future, in which training will significantly assist.

The training aims at supporting developing skills among the beneficiaries, further assisting them in launching sham business and get employed.

Some listeners one used to start their business from scratch, though due to intense labour and ambition they are now running a rather successful activity.

How to be a businesswomen and story of the Salon Owner having managed to establish herself at the local market were among one of the attendants of the Training.

“For 13 years, I have had loyal customer at my salon, we are one team and take efforts to meet the demands of all clients. Besides this, I want all clients to be happy. I trust my team and value their efforts. As noted by our trainer for the success of business it is important to be backed by labour-intensive and reliable workers, create a favourable working condition for them, being a guarantee for future success. Despite the fact that for years I have been occupied with business and know my work well, I have received a lot of information from trainer” – noted training participant.

The Training was held in the frame of the programme for strengthening former inmates, inmates’ family members and support program of the probationers, being implemented by the Institute of Democracy in cooperation with Guria Youth Resource Centre, Tanaziari and Foundation Abkhazinterkont.
