In case of necessity of the self-governance, existence of petition system is also necessary

“In case of necessity of the self-governance, existence of petition system is also necessary” – this was the position expressed by the Interim Chairman of Ozurgeti Municipal Council in relation to the petition system.

Nino Goguadze - Interim Chairman of Ozurgeti Municipal Council – petition system remained as one of the effective systems enabling the citizens to make their voice heard related to the problems.

At the meeting with the members of project implementing organizations the representatives of the Municipal Council stated that through launching the petition system civic engagement in the activity of the self-governance.

Incompatibility between the wishes and competences of the self-governance were named as one of the drawback revealed while working on the system by the Municipal Council and City Hall.

Aleko Burchuladze – First Deputy Mayor of Ozurgeti – “It is necessary for the population to be aware of the self-governance, in order to know what to request, whereas the self-governance must be aware what to settle”.

In the format of the working meeting, the representatives of the third sector paid attention to the drawbacks identified in the Regulation of the Municipal Council and necessity for their correction.
