Social Enterprise

Institute of Democracy together with Foundation Abkhazinterkont opened a Social Enterprise “Heating and Cooling System” in Imereti. At the Enterprise, being launched in the frame of the Project for Strengthening Former Inmates, probationers and their family members are employed. In the frame of the event, the representatives of the European Union and invited guests also visited a Social Enterprise “Agama”, being also strengthened and expanded in the frame of the project.

“Heating and Cooling System” offers safe and highly-qualified service for installing Heating and Cooling Systems in Imereti.

A Social Enterprise “Agama” has been producing ecologically friendly healthy berry fruit under greenhouse conditions. This year, the Enterprise added production of readymade products, i.e. jams and compotes with the support of the European Union.

A non-discriminated environment is created at the Enterprise, employing former inmates selected on the basis of contest. After the event, the representatives of the European Union visited a Business Activity of the Beneficiary funded in the frame of the project. Supporting self-employment and employment of project beneficiaries serves as one of the one of the basic component the program for Supporting Former Inmates, Inmates’’ Families and Probationers.

The event was held in the frame of Project for Strengthening Former Inmates, probationers and their family members, being implemented by the Institute of Democracy together with partner organizations in Ajara, Guria, Samegrelo and Upper Svaneti Region.
