Why do beneficiaries choose employment with their specialty?

After being released from custody, Tengiz Tsintsadze was soon involved in the project supporting Former Inmates, Inmates’ Families and Probationers. Due to the conditional sentence, a former inmate failed to get employed in the public and private sector, therefore he decided to be self-employed.

Addressing a project partner organization “Guria Youth Center” in Guria, was involved in the service supporting small family business and with the support of the re-socialization program, purchased the tools necessary for self-employment.

The artisans were involved in the small grant project. The beneficiaries were granted with the tools necessary for tiles, sanitary techniques and electricity, which significantly supported them in increasing the orders and relevantly, the incomes.

Finding a job after being released from prison is the main problem for the beneficiaries in Samegrelo region as well. Employment of former inmates, similar to other regions of Georgia is also related to a number of problems, due to which, the beneficiaries basically choose a component of self-employment.

Gela Khvitia living in Zugdidi regions was employed with the help of the tools purchased with the program of socialization. He was granted with the welding equipment. He is producing various iron items and has orders not only in Samegrelo but also in Svaneti region.

As shown with the experience of working on the re-socialization program of former inmates, the beneficiaries have difficulty finding employment after being released from custody. Therefore, they get employed with their profession, whereas the project supporting Former Inmates, Inmates’ Families and Probationers helps them in strengthening, which considers purchase of the necessary equipment with small grant.

The following directions were financed with the small grant: artisans’ groups, fast food objects, agriculture, cattle breeding, poultry breeding, bee-breeding, souvenir production, tailoring, wood chopping, automobile washing, mill, etc.

The beneficiaries interested with Small Grant Program shall be delivered the Business Management Trainings in the frame of the project. The beneficiaries presenting business offers will be provided with free consultations.

The Project is implemented by the Institute of Democracy, Guria Youth Resource Center, Tanaziari and Foundation “Abkhazinterkont” with the support of the European Union. The project is working in Ajara, Guria, Samegrelo – Upper Svaneti and Imereti region.
