The problems named by the participants of Batumi Municipal Council Elections

The project “People’s Choice” was implemented in May 30, 2010 in relation to the Self-Governance Elections and aimed at motivating the electorate in Batumi, ensuring the debates among election subjects and involving various groups of the society in the debates.

Seven political parties and 46 majority candidates participating in Batumi Local Self-Governance Elections of May 30 were involved in the project
(in total 57 majority candidates were involved in the elections, among them 11 refused to participate in the debates).

Before starting the cycle, political parties and majority candidates involved in the project filled special questionnaires, listing the problems settlement of which was promised to the electorate. The parties named 20 problems, whereas 10 by the majority candidates. Their presentation was held via live broadcasting of TV Channel 25, during pre-election debates.

In this form the archives of political parties and promises by majority deputies was formed, which will be placed at the Institute of Democracy web-site during four years, enabling monitoring of the promises by winning parties and majority deputies represented in the Municipal Council. The questionnaires filled by political subjects defeated in the elections as well as the majority candidates are placed at the web-site. The project was implemented I partnership with the Institute of Democracy and TV Channel 25.

The project is financed by the USAID.
