What specific steps were taken after referring the petitions in Ajara Municipalities?

Kobuleti Municipality, according to their information, started working on two issues out of the issues foreseen with the petitions. According to the letter submitted by them, currently 15 fountains and part of children attractions are purchased, being installed at the present. Governing Board is planning to purchase a project design for fencing the cemetery.

Presentation of the Project for “Strengthening of Former Inmates” in Khulo Municipality

The Institute of Democracy hold presentation of the project “Strengthening of Former Inmates” in Khulo Municipality. The representatives of the Institute of Democracy informed the gusts invited at Khulo Municipal Board about the potential beneficiaries of the project, as well as the services to be applied by involved beneficiaries.

Khulo Municipality considered the recommendation by the Institute of Democracy

The recommendation by the Institute of Democracy was related to accomplishment of the petition systems and adoption of the registration for simplifying referral of the petitions in the Municipality. 

In case of necessity of the self-governance, existence of petition system is also necessary

At the meeting with the members of project implementing organizations the representatives of the Municipal Council stated that through launching the petition system civic engagement in the activity of the self-governance.   

Incompatibility between the wishes and competences of the self-governance were named as one of the drawback revealed while working on the system by the Municipal Council and City Hall.

Municipal Council has competence for settling the issues, though it often fails to apply it (EN)

„This is governance and not self-governance” – a number of functions were passed to the self-governance, though it fails to form a policy. It is devoid of sufficient human, financial resources and necessary competences. It depends on the center and a number of issues, finally leading to failure of their settlement – this was the position of the First Deputy Governor of Ozurgeti Municipality.
